……The meeting urged members to uphold discipline and integrity.

The Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda Alumni Association has adopted its constitution as its first official working document and approved key resolutions, including the suspension of its National Publicity Secretary, during its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The AGM, which held at the Multipurpose Hall of the institution’s permanent site, recorded a large turnout of members from across the country.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting signed by the National President of the Alumni Association Abdulrazak Bello Kaura, and the National Secretary, Rimamyang Amos Ibang said the adoption of the constitution provides a legal and operational framework for its activities of the association.

The meeting also approved a four-year tenure for elected executives in line with the newly adopted constitution.

It was further resolved that the current National Executive Committee, which has already served two years, will complete the remaining two years to align with the new tenure structure.

On disciplinary matters, the AGM suspended the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Obalola Ebenezer Olufemi, for one year over alleged misconduct considered detrimental to the image of the Polytechnic, its management, and the Alumni Association.

The case was referred to the appropriate disciplinary body for further review, while the decision remains subject to ratification at the 2027 AGM. Consequently, Dr. Oluchukwu Abba was appointed as Acting National Publicity Secretary pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Association also approved the dissolution of its existing Board of Trustees (BoT) and the reconstitution of a new board aimed at strengthening governance and ensuring stability.

As part of efforts to enhance financial sustainability, the AGM approved ₦2,500 as annual membership dues, subject to future review.

The meeting urged members to uphold discipline and integrity, emphasizing that, the Alumni Association is not a pressure group and should not be used for actions that could tarnish its reputation.

On institutional support, members were called upon to contribute financially and materially to the development of the Polytechnic, support student welfare initiatives, and promote the institution to attract prospective students.

The AGM highlighted several achievements recorded by the Association, including the construction of signposts and student bus stops, support for student welfare and medical needs, facilitation of employment opportunities for members, and the donation of five solar-powered motorised boreholes facilitated by an alumnus and member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu.

In the area of digital development, the Association presented its official website for managing alumni data and activities, with members making recommendations for further improvement.
