    The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another major operational success in its sustained offensive against criminality across the State, following a coordinated intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of four suspected criminals and the recovery of a locally fabricated firearm, suspected hard drugs, charms and other incriminating exhibits.

    A statement signed by the command public relations officer DSP Timfon John said the operation was carried out by Operatives of the Command in furtherance of the operational directives of the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, to identify and dismantle criminal hideouts, eliminate black spots and deny criminal elements any foothold within the State.

    The statement said acting on credible intelligence, police operatives on 26th July, 2026, at about 1930hrs, stormed a suspected criminal hideout located at Mbiabong Ikot Essien, off Oron Road, Uyo Local Government Area, a compound reportedly owned by one Imo (surname yet unknown).

    On sighting the police team, several suspects took to their heels. However, four suspects were apprehended during the operation. They are:

    * Idonranyen Bassey, Male, 18 years;

    * Emmanuel Rafael, Male, 15 years;

    * Messiah Vincent, Male, 21 years; and

    * Goodnews Ubong Bassey, Male, 16 years.

    A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of the following exhibits:

    * One locally fabricated pistol;

    * Quantities of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa (Indian hemp);

    * Charms of various kinds;

    * Plumbing materials suspected to be stolen; and

    * Several packaged clothing items reasonably suspected to be proceeds of theft.

    The Commissioner further assures law-abiding residents that the Command remains resolute in its mandate to safeguard lives and property and will continue to sustain aggressive operations against cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, burglary, drug-related crimes and all forms of criminality across the State.

    Members of the public are encouraged to remain security conscious and continue to partner with the Police by providing timely and credible information that will aid ongoing efforts to keep Akwa Ibom State safe and secure.
