Ahmadu Bello University is set to start its ICT network infrastructure refresh as it took delivery of high capacity equipment for the project.

A statement from the public affairs directorate office of the VC said already, the technical team for the ABU ICT network infrastructure revamp in Ahmadu Bello University is finalising high level designs for the start of the work.

The institution initiated a network refresh using Huawei products and technologies. This is in support of the university management efforts in transforming ABU into a smart campus.

Huawei Technologies Nig. Ltd and Signal Alliance are partners in the project. The partnership began with MoU signing on Wednesday, 14th January, 2026.

The project, ‘Network Infrastructure Refresh Project: Huawei Smart Campus for ABU’, was initiated to address the university campus ICT needs.

The partnership is not only a replacement of other service providers but also a strategic plan to enhance teaching and research.

Only last Thursday, 21st May, 2026, the university took delivery of high capacity ICT equipment supplied by Signal Alliance, also a strategic partner in the refresh project.

The deployment of the high capacity equipment will start shortly as the project technical team is finally rounding off the high level designs.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, inspected the supplied equipment at the ABU Network Infrastructure Security (NIS).

Prof Ahmed expressed satisfaction with the quality of the equipment which were supplied according to specification.

The Vice-Chancellor also expressed confidence that the new internet infrastructure would boost productivity and ensure that learning was not constrained to physical classroom.

The Managing Director, Signal Alliance, Kenneth Ufomba, who presented the equipment to the Vice-Chancellor, appreciated the university for the partnership.

He came along with company’s Head of Sales, Abuja and North, Juliet Uwakwe.
