The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has commended the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his bold investment in women’s economic empowerment through the state’s Monthly Women Empowerment and Poverty Relief Programme.
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Saturday.
The commendation was conveyed by the APC National Ex-Officio, Hon. Muhammad Jamo Yusuf, who represented the National Chairman at the official disbursement of the monthly empowerment support to beneficiaries held at the Government House, Kano.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Muhammad Jamo Yusuf described the initiative as a remarkable intervention that demonstrates the administration’s genuine commitment to improving the welfare of women and tackling poverty at the grassroots.
He said the initiative reflects visionary leadership and would go a long way in strengthening household incomes, promoting entrepreneurship, and enhancing the socio-economic well-being of thousands of families across Kano State.
The programme provides monthly economic support to 5,200 women drawn from all the 44 local government areas of the state. Under the initiative, 200 women each from the eight metropolitan local government areas and 100 women each from the 36 rural local government areas receive financial support to establish or expand small-scale businesses, thereby improving their economic independence and supporting their families.
The Monthly Women Empowerment and Poverty Relief Programme is one of the Kano State Government’s flagship social investment initiatives aimed at reducing poverty, stimulating grassroots economic activities, and improving the standard of living of citizens across the state.
