Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON who is also the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Gombe North Senatorial seat, on Friday appeared before the party’s Senatorial Screening Committee in Abuja, where he was formally cleared to contest in the forthcoming elections.
A statement signed by Ismaila Uba Misilli, DG Press Affairs Gombe State government house said the screening exercise, which took place at Plateau House in Abuja, was conducted by the APC Senatorial Screening Committee chaired by the National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
The exercise also featured other sitting governors seeking reelection or contesting for senatorial positions under the APC platform.
Addressing the aspirants during the exercise, Professor Yilwatda commended the governors for their service and contributions to governance, stating that the party has confidence in its sitting governors and their leadership credentials.
“As a party, we will continue to support all our sitting governors. There is no need subjecting you to rigorous screening again, having previously undergone similar processes and served creditably in office,” the chairman stated.
He noted that Governor Inuwa Yahaya and his counterparts had already fulfilled all constitutional and party requirements to contest and were therefore duly cleared by the committee.
“Having satisfied all the necessary requirements, you are hereby requested to take a bow and go,” he added.
Recall that Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s appearance before the screening panel comes amid growing momentum in the APC following his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate for the Gombe North Senatorial seat.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya is going into the Senatorial contest with enormous political strength, proven leadership credentials and an impressive record of performance that directly impacts the lives of the people.
