    APPOINTMENT OF PROF. MUHAMMAD IBRAHIM ZARIA AS THE NEW CHAIRMAN, MEDICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (CMAC), ABU TEACHING HOSPITAL, ZARIA

    Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Zaria has been appointed as the new Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) for Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria.

    This was contained in the letter ref. THD/DHS/ABUTH/002/1/48, dated 28th April, 2026, conveying the approval of the appointment by the Coordinating Minister, Federal Ministry of Health & Social Welfare.

    A statement signed by Haruna Ibrahim information and public relations unit of the hospital said the Minister enjoins him to bring his expertise, experience, and leadership to bear and justify the confidence reposed in him.

    It said the appointment takes effect from 4th May, 2026, for an initial period of two (2) years, renewable for a final term of two (2) years.

    Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Zaria is a distinguished Nigerian Medical doctor, academic, and Professor of Radiology at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and Chief Consultant Radiologist at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria.

    Prof. Muhammad has held several strategic administrative positions, including Pioneer Head of Department, Medical Radiography in the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, ABU Zaria, Head, Department of Radiology at both ABU and ABUTH Zaria, Medical Superintendent, Tudun-Wada Hospital, Zaria, Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (Clinical Services), Acting Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), on several occasions.

    He has also been actively involved in University/Hospital governance and professional bodies. He served as Auditor, Assistant Secretary, and Secretary General for the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), ABUTH chapter, and has held leadership roles within the Association of Radiologists in Nigeria (ARIN) and the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN).

    Prof. Muhammad is a prolific researcher with many peer-reviewed publications in leading Medical journals. His research focuses on diagnostic imaging in Neurological conditions like Stroke and Brain tumors, cardiovascular diseases, Hematologic disorders like Sickle Cell Disease, Women’s imaging for Breast diseases and cervical cancers, Doppler Ultrasound applications for vascular diseases, Radiation safety for work-related exposure and risks, and feto-Maternal Medicine for fetal diseases. He has attended numerous National and International conferences in Nigeria, India, Ghana, Senegal, and Burkina Faso.

    Beyond these professional achievements, Prof. Muhammad is deeply committed to community service. He has participated in and led numerous free Medical outreaches, providing essential Healthcare services to underserved Urban and rural Communities across Zaria, Kaduna State, and Nigeria. He also served as a Medical officer for Nigerian Hajj Medical Missions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2011 and 2014.

    Prof. Muhammad is happily married and blessed with children. In his leisure time, he enjoys Football, Table Tennis, Reading and Traveling.
