    ARREST OF SUSPECTED THIEVES, RECOVERS TRICYCLE, TWO MOTORCYCLES, AND ELEVEN HANDSETS

    The Jigawa State Police Command has continued to record significant operational successes in its sustained fight against crime and criminality across the state through intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention strategies.

    A statement signed by the command public relations officer SP Lawan Shiisu Adam,Police Public Relations Officer, Jigawa State Police Command said in a series of coordinated operations conducted across the state, operatives of the Command arrested suspects involved in offences ranging from theft, shop breaking, and unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, while several exhibits were recovered.

    It said operatives attached to the Maigatari and Malam Madori Divisions responded swiftly to distress calls regarding the theft of Royal and Boxer motorcycles. Abubakar Ya’u ‘m’ age 30yrs, and Aminu Ya’u ‘m’ age 28yrs both of Dantanoma Quarters, Gumel LGA, and Abdullahi Bala ‘m’ age 25yrs of Garbagar village, Guri LGA, were intercepted in possession of the stolen motorcycles. The investigation has been completed. Suspects were arraigned in court for prosecution.

    On 21st July, 2026, at about 1215hrsa, police operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested one Anas Nuhu ‘m’ age 31yrs of Jobe Village, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, at Babaldu Town in possession of a tricycle (Keke Napep) bearing Registration No. MDB 478 QE and Union No. GWL 1842, suspected to have been stolen. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to stealing the tricycle from a park in Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State. The case has been charged to court.

    In another operation, on 06th August, 2026, at about 0930hrs, one individual reported at Birniwa Division that his shop was broken into and eleven Android handsets were carted away. Following a tip-off, Mamman Adamu ‘m’ age 18yrs of Tutiyari village, Kirikasamma LGA, was arrested. All the eleven stolen handstands were successfully recovered. On investigation, suspect confessed to the crime. Upon completion of the investigation, the suspect will be charged in court.

    The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, psc, mnips, commended the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism, vigilance, and dedication. He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information capable of preventing and combating crime throughout the state.
