The Zamfara state Command of the Nigerian Police Force says on 3rd April 2026, information received from the Divisional Police Officer, Bukuyum, revealed that on 2nd April 2026 at about 1328hrs, a large number of heavily armed men suspected to be bandits invaded Kurfa Community in Bukuyum Local Government Area.
This was contained in a statement signed by the command public relations officer DSP Yazid Abubakar on behalf of the state commissioner of police issued to newsmen.
The assailants, who arrived in large numbers and were armed with sophisticated weapons, reportedly operated for a considerable period. During the attack, the hoodlums fired sporadically, causing panic and confusion among residents.
As a result of the attack, an unspecified number of persons were abducted and taken to an undisclosed location while others scampered and fled for safety.
A joint team of Police operatives, in collaboration with the military and other security agencies, responded swiftly to the distress call and mobilized to the scene. The suspects who fled before the arrival of security personnel are giving a hot chased by the tactical teams and Some residents who escaped into surrounding areas were intercepted and rushed to hospital for treatment.
Efforts are currently ongoing to ascertain the exact number of persons abducted, so far rescue operation is ongoing.
The Command has intensified operations in the area and is working closely with relevant stakeholders to track down the perpetrators.
