The Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga, on Saturday hosted the Grand Finale of the 2026 Uba Sani Legacy Poetry Competition at the Conference Hall of the Zaria Local Government Secretariat, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, educational advancement, and talent development.
A statement signed by Galadima Ishaq Chief press secretary office of the Chairman said the competition was organised by APC National Youth Ambassadors in collaboration with Team Adda and sponsored by Uba Sani Promoters.
Speaking during the event, Chairman Jaga described the programme as a platform aimed at nurturing creativity, intellectual engagement, and leadership among young people across Kaduna State.
The Chairman congratulated Saifullahi Ibrahim for emerging as the overall winner of the competition, while Faiza Muhammad Sani emerged as the first runner-up and Ghali Yahaya Bamalli secured the position of second runner-up.
He equally commended all participating contestants for their impressive performances, confidence, and dedication, noting that the display of talent and discipline by the young participants gives hope for a brighter future.
Chairman Jaga also fulfilled his earlier pledge by presenting electric motorcycles to the winners of the Team Adda Spelling Bee Competition Finals in both the Junior Category from Zaria Local Government and the Senior Category from Sabon Gari Local Government.
He said the gesture was part of ongoing efforts to encourage academic excellence and reward hardworking students and talented youths across the zone.
“Our administration will continue to support initiatives that promote education, youth development, and positive community engagement. We believe that investing in our young people is investing in the future of our society,” the Chairman stated.
The event attracted government officials, political leaders, traditional title holders, APC stakeholders, youth groups, and other dignitaries from within and outside Zaria Local Government Area.
Chairman Jaga used the occasion to appreciate the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Malam Uba Sani , for his unwavering commitment toward improving education and human capital development across the state.
He also commended the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, for his immense contributions toward educational growth, youth empowerment, and infrastructural development within Zaria Federal Constituency.
The Chairman further appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Renewed Hope Agenda and the support being extended to states and local governments across the country, noting that many developmental strides being witnessed today are made possible through interventions and policies of the Federal Government.
Earlier in the day, Chairman Jaga received former Kaduna State Governor, Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, during a stakeholders’ engagement held at the Council Chamber of the Zaria Local Government Secretariat.
The meeting was attended by party leaders, elected officials, councillors, ward executives, stakeholders, and loyal members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) drawn from the 13 wards of Zaria Local Government Area.
Following extensive deliberations, stakeholders unanimously endorsed Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero as the APC consensus candidate for Kaduna Central Senatorial District (Zone One) ahead of the party’s primary election.
Chairman Jaga described the endorsement as a reflection of the unity, maturity, and collective resolve of APC stakeholders in Zaria to support credible leadership and strengthen the party for future electoral success.
He reaffirmed the commitment of party leaders and supporters in Zaria Local Government toward sustaining peace, unity, and progress for the development of Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
