All 21 local government area chairman and 226 councillors have resigned from the People’s Democratic party PDP to the ruling All progressives Congress APC in Adamawa state.

Most of the council chairmen signed their membership of the party (PDP) on Monday 19th October 2026 through formal resignation letters addressed to their various party’s ward chairmen across the 21 local councils in the state.
In some of resignation letters sighted by this reporter, the reason given for their actions is said to be personal reasons after wide consultations with their families and political Associates.
In the resignation tendered by the chairman of Demsa local government area, Mr.Akham Jalo dated 19th October 2026 cited that wide consultations with his family, political associates, stakeholders and the good people of Demsa Local Government made him to quit PDP to joined the ruling APC.
”My decision to join the APC was informed by the need to align with the progressive vision of His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and to attract more dividends of democracy to the people of Demsa.
”This movement is for collective progress, unity and development and my administration remains committed to good governance, peace and the welfare of the people”.Jalo noted.

Jalo expressed profound gratitude to the leadership and members of the PDP for the opportunity given to him to serve, and assured the people of Demsa that his defection to the APC will open new doors of opportunities and accelerated development for the council.
He called on his supporters and loyalists to remain calm, united and to rally behind the APC for a greater Demsa, a greater Adamawa and a greater Nigeria.
Confirming the development, the state publicity Secretary of the ruling All progressives Congress, Victor Dogo said all the 21 council chairmen have moved to the APC today (Monday 19th October 2026).
Dogo attributed to their joining APC as aligning with their political God father, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who has been there for them always.

“They are all aligning with their Godfather, Governor Finitri who made the way for them because they said they feel wasted not aligning with their Godfather in the same political platform “.Dogo emphasized.
Political analysts in the state viewed the cross over as a stage managed stuff which has been on their political drawing board andhas just been executed.
