The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga, on Saturday, 4th July 2026, attended two landmark events in Zaria, demonstrating his steadfast commitment to the preservation of cultural heritage, grassroots development, and the continued progress of the APC-led administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sen. Malam Uba Sani, CON.
The Chairman first attended the Grand Finale/Closing Ceremony of the 44th Northern Derby Horse Racing Championship, “Zaria 2026”, held at Muhammadu Aminu Square, GRA, Zaria, organised by the Premier Horse Racing Company in collaboration with the Northern States Turf Club Authority (NSTCA).
The colourful event was graced by Her Excellency Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who represented Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and conveyed the First Lady’s goodwill message and felicitations to His Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, and the entire Zazzau Emirate for their continued support for the promotion of culture, sports, and traditional heritage.
Also in attendance were Her Excellency Hajiya Hafsat Uba Sani, Wife of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State; Hajiya Fatima Tajudeen Abbas, Wife of the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the House of Representatives, National Assembly; Hajiya Zainab Balarabe Abbas, Wife of the Honourable Minister of Environment; Mrs. Lilian Oghogho Musa, Wife of the Honourable Minister of Defence; members of the Kaduna State Executive Council; spouses of members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly; and other distinguished guests.
At the conclusion of the championship, outstanding winners in the various categories were presented with prizes ranging from cash awards, trophies, and brand-new cars in recognition of their exceptional performances, further underscoring the championship’s significance as one of Northern Nigeria’s premier sporting and cultural events.
The organisers publicly commended Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga for his generous financial contribution and steadfast support towards the successful hosting of the 44th Northern Derby Horse Racing Championship, “Zaria 2026”, describing his intervention as instrumental to the successful actualisation of the prestigious annual sporting and cultural event, which continues to preserve and promote the rich equestrian heritage of the Zazzau Emirate and Northern Nigeria.
Earlier in the day, the Chairman attended the Zone One Stakeholders’ Town Hall Meeting and Project Exhibition, organised by the Tinubu/Uba Sani Mobilization Network under the leadership of Hon. Abdulmumini Aminu Zaria, held at the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Basawa, Zaria.
The programme showcased the achievements of the Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani across the critical sectors of health, agriculture, education, and road infrastructure.
Speaking alongside other stakeholders, Engr. Jaga commended the transformative leadership and developmental strides of Governor Uba Sani and reaffirmed his commitment to mobilising grassroots support for the continued success of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the re-election of the APC-led Government under Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections.
The stakeholders’ engagement attracted political leaders, government officials, appointees at the federal, state, and local government levels, party executives, community stakeholders, and APC faithful from across Zone One and Kaduna State, reflecting the growing confidence in the developmental vision of the APC-led administrations.
