    CHIEF OF KUMANA PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO HEADQUARTERS 3 DIVISION REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PEACE AND SECURITY

    The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army, and Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), Major General Maxwell Dangana, on Thursday, 20 August 2026, received the Chief of Kumana, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdullahi Dauda and his entourage on a courtesy visit to headquarters 3 Division.

    A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Olumide Victor,Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations ,3 Division Nigerian Army said the delegation was received at the GOC’s Conference Room, where discussions centred on security, community cooperation and developmental challenges affecting the Kumana Chiefdom and its surrounding communities.

    In his remarks delivered on behalf of the GOC, the Chief of Staff, Headquarters 3 Division, Brigadier General Tosin Ayoola, the GOC expressed appreciation to the traditional ruler and the people of Kumana for their continued cooperation and collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies operating in the area.

    The GOC acknowledged the important role the Kumana community has played in sustaining relative peace and security through cooperation, timely information sharing and support for security personnel. He assured the delegation that the concerns, requests and challenges presented during the visit had been carefully noted. He also commended the traditional ruler for initiating the engagement and for maintaining constructive relations with the Nigerian Army. Major General Dangana further emphasized the strategic role of traditional institutions in mobilising communities and encouraging citizens to support security agencies in their efforts to prevent crime, address security threats and maintain peace and stability.

    Earlier, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dauda Abdulsalam Abdullahi, expressed appreciation to the GOC for granting the delegation the opportunity to visit the headquarters. The traditional ruler commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their sacrifices, dedication and commitment to maintaining peace and security within their areas of responsibility. He urged the people of Kumana to continue supporting the military and other security agencies by providing necessary cooperation and useful information capable of enhancing effective security operations.

    According to the royal father, the visit provided an important platform for both parties to discuss matters of mutual interest, particularly the security and developmental challenges confronting the Kumana community. He added that the engagement underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between traditional institutions and security agencies in responding to emerging security threats and strengthening community resilience. The traditional ruler also appreciated the GOC for maintaining open channels of communication with traditional rulers, local authorities and host communities, describing such engagement as vital to promoting peace, security and stability within the Division’s area of responsibility.

    Highlights of the visit were the presentation of souvenirs and a group photographs.
