A statement signed by Captain Lawal Bala Mohammad Acting assistant director army public relations, headquarters,2 brigade Nigerian army said the COAS gave the commendation during the 2026 Sallah Celebration Luncheon with troops of 6 Division Nigerian Army held at 6 Battalion Barracks, Wellington Bassey Barracks, Ibagwa, Akwa Ibom State on 27 May 2026.
The Special Guest of Honor Chief of Army Staff who was represented by the Chief of Army Standards and Evaluation, Major General Bobby Ugiagbe, praised troops deployed in various theatres of operations across the nation for their loyalty, courage and steadfast dedication which have continued to contribute significantly to successes recorded against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, oil theft and other criminal activities threatening national peace and stability.
In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army Major General Emmanuel Ejim Emekah, called on personnel to maintain courage, unity of purpose and mutual trust in addressing the nation’s security challenges. He noted that the gathering was not only a celebration of Eid al Adha but also an opportunity to reflect on the enduring values of sacrifice, obedience, loyalty, compassion and selfless service represented by the festival.
The Commander 2 Brigade Nigerian Army Brigadier General Nnabueze Emmanuel Okoloagu, in his remarks also appreciated the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and the COAS for prioritising troops’ administration and welfare.
Highlights of the event included the serving of meals to troops by senior officers, an act which reflected humility, trust and confidence among personnel.
