The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), Nigerian Army School of Music (NASM) and other Senior Non Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) to be in the vanguard of maintaining Discipline and Regimentation.
A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Iweha Ikedichi, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations,81 division Nigerian army said the charge was made when the COAS commissioned the official residence of the RSM, NASM.
Represented by the General Officer Commanding, 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, the COAS remarked that the exercise was not merely a ceremony; it represented the delivery of hope, comfort and commitment to the welfare and well-being of soldiers and their families. He called on the RSM and other SNCOs to remain the bastion of regimentation and discipline, as these values for part of the enduring values of the Nigerian Army.
The COAS described the provision of decent accommodation for troops as cardinal and central in his command philosophy with emphasis on the soldier first concept. He subsequently congratulated and charged the RSM to maintain the accommodation as an institutional legacy that would serve other RSMs in the near future.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the commissioning of the residence, the handover of the keys to the RSM and a tour of the tastefully furnished accommodation including the the gate house, fitted with a stand-by generator and solar inverter system for uninterrupted power supply.
