The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday 8 October 2026, received a paper presented by participants of Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) Course 10/2026, titled “Harnessing Indigenous Technological Innovation for Enhanced Operational Effectiveness of the Nigerian Army.”
The paper, presented by TAO Okundaye on behalf of the participants, forms part of the academic requirements for the participants’ graduation and the activities lined up ahead of the graduation ceremony.
The presentation reflects the College’s focus on equipping officers with the knowledge and strategic capacity required to translate national security objectives into effective operational outcomes.

Course 10/2026 comprises 85 Nigerian Army senior officers, two officers each from the Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air Force and participants from Botswana, Chad, Guinea, Liberia, Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Ghana and South Africa.

The COAS had earlier charged participants at the course inauguration to embrace progressive thinking, innovation and new knowledge in responding to evolving and asymmetric threats.
The presentation therefore reinforces the Nigerian Army’s drive to develop adaptive leaders and harness indigenous technological solutions to strengthen operational effectiveness, reduce capability gaps and enhance Nigeria’s capacity to address emerging security challenges within a joint and multi-agency environment.
