The Commandant Nigerian Army Armour School, Major General Abubakar Ahmed inaugurated combined Third Quarter Courses 2026 with a charge to uphold academic excellence, discipline and professionalism which are foundation for effective service and operational success.
A statement signed by Major AA Adekunle Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations Headquarters Nigerian Army Armoured Corps said the inauguration ceremony was held at Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya Auditorium, Obienu Barracks, Bauchi on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.
Speaking on behalf of the Commandant, the Deputy Commandant and Director of Study, Brigadier General Alhassan Mohammed Haruna described the third quarter courses as career programmes designed to advance Armour Personnel in their chosen professions.
The Commandant reaffirmed Nigerian Army Armour School’s mandate to produce well-trained personnel of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps through realistic training and equipment maintenance to enhance the Corps’ combat readiness. He noted that training remains the bedrock of professional manpower development.
He explained that the courses were structured to broaden knowledge of armour tactics, the types of Armoured Fighting Vehicles in the Corps’ inventory and other operational skills required in the field. This, he said, aligns with the Nigerian Army Training Directive and the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy of producing personnel who are physically fit and mentally resilient.
Students were encouraged to take part in mess and social activities to assess their conducts and interpersonal relations. They were also advised to avoid social vices that could compromise safety and health.
The Commandant further urged the students to pay close attention to instructions and study diligently to become more proficient and competent in their careers. He assured them that their welfare would be adequately catered for within the capacity of the school.
Major General Ahmed expressed his appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu for providing the logistics and financial support that has sustained training at the school. He also thanked the Commander Armoured Corps, Major General Umar Abubakar, for his guidance. He commended the Chief Instructors, Senior Instructors, Instructors and Administrative Staff for their contributions toward sustaining training standards at Nigerian Army Armour School.
The Third Quarter courses comprise Crewman Course 100/26, ST 1 Conversion Course 12/26 for both officers and soldiers and VT 4 Conversion Course 12/26 for both officers and soldiers.
