The Commander 31 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Kabir Rabiu, has continued his operational/familiarisation and courtesy visits within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility with visits to security agencies, subordinate units and troops deployed at critical locations on 10 August 2026.
A statement signed by Captain Mohammad Shehu Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 31 Artillery Brigade said the Commander first visited the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Niger State Command, Commandant Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, where he stressed the need for enhanced collaboration and synergy among security agencies towards safeguarding lives and property and protecting critical national infrastructure. He also emphasised timely information and intelligence sharing in the fight against banditry and other criminal activities. Both commanders reaffirmed their commitment to mutual support and cooperation towards achieving their shared security objectives.
Brigadier General Rabiu also visited 313 Artillery Regiment, where he was received by the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel LT Madugu, and briefed on the Regiment’s operational and administrative activities. He commended the officers and soldiers for their commitment and sacrifices and urged them to maintain discipline, professionalism and operational readiness.
In continuation of the visit, on 11 August 2026, the Commander proceeded to Zungeru Cemetery and Zungeru Hydro Power Plant (ZHPP), where he inspected troops deployed at the locations and interacted with the management of ZHPP. He appreciated the troops for their dedication and charged them to remain vigilant, disciplined and professional in the discharge of their duties. He further cautioned them against the wrongful use of social media and unnecessary use of smartphones while on duty, noting that such practices could distract personnel and compromise operational alertness. He directed that phones should only be used when authorised or operationally necessary.
The Commander also urged the troops to remain their brothers’ keepers and warned against drug abuse, betting and gambling, which could negatively affect their health, discipline and effectiveness. The Power Plant Manager, Engineer Alfa Isah, appreciated the efforts and professionalism of the troops deployed to safeguard the facility and commended their commitment to protecting the National critical infrastructure.
The visits provided an opportunity for the Commander to assess operational activities, boost troop morale and strengthen collaboration with sister security agencies and critical infrastructure managers. The engagements climaxed with guided tours, presentation of souvenirs and group photographs.
