    COMMANDER SECTOR 2 REAFFIRMS MILITARY–NSCDC SYNERGY TO STRENGTHEN SECURITY IN YOBE

    The Commander, Headquarters Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General Edet Effiong, has reaffirmed the Nigerian military’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration as a critical enabler of security, stability, and public confidence across Yobe State and the North East.

    A statement signed by Lieutenant Absolom Kandala, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Headquarters Sector 2, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI Damaturu said the Commander made this known on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, while receiving the newly posted Yobe State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Hassan Owuna, during a courtesy visit to Headquarters Sector 2 in Damaturu.

    Welcoming the Commandant and his delegation, Brigadier General Effiong commended the NSCDC for its unwavering dedication to the protection of critical national assets and support to civil authority. He emphasized that contemporary security challenges require a coordinated, whole-of-government approach, noting that the synergy among security agencies has continued to deny criminal and terrorist elements the opportunity to exploit operational gaps.

    The Sector Commander stated that the enduring partnership between Operation HADIN KAI and the NSCDC has significantly enhanced operational effectiveness through intelligence sharing, joint planning, coordinated responses, and sustained capacity building. He stressed that such collaboration remains vital to consolidating the security gains already recorded across the theatre of operations.

    Brigadier General Effiong further reaffirmed his commitment to expanding cooperation through regular joint training, professional exchanges, and integrated operational activities. He urged both organizations to sustain their collective efforts towards safeguarding schools, markets, critical infrastructure, and other public spaces while strengthening public confidence in the nation’s security architecture.

    In his remarks, Commandant Hassan Owuna expressed appreciation to the Nigerian military for its continuous support, particularly in providing regimental training and operational guidance to NSCDC personnel. He pledged to build on the existing relationship between both organizations and assured the Sector Commander of the Corps’ unwavering commitment to complementing the efforts of Operation HADIN KAI in maintaining peace, protecting critical infrastructure, and enhancing public safety across Yobe State.

    The visit concluded with the signing of the visitors’ book, exchange of souvenirs, and a group photograph, underscoring the shared resolve of both organizations to deepen inter-agency cooperation in support of national security and the restoration of enduring peace in the North East.
