President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally commissined the pharmacy quality control laboratory and the ABUTH Trauma centre.
A statement signed by Haruna Ibrahim information and public relations officer of the hospital said the President was Represented by the Chief Medical of the Hospital,Prof Ahmed Hamidu Umdagas , during the commissioning ceremony.
It said that this initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring safe, high-quality medical services for Nigerians.
Pharmacy Quality Control Laboratory [QC Lab] is part of the quality Management system that designed to ensure all pharmaceuticals used in the hospital meet official standards.
It consists of two core units, Chemistry Laboratory for chemical analysis and assay of drug components and Microbiology Laboratory for sterility, microbial limit, and contamination testing,
Drugs procured for hospital use are randomly selected upon delivery to undergo rigorous testing in the QC Lab against pharmaceutical and NAFDAC approved standards.
Drugs that meet standards are cleared for patient use. drugs that fall short are rejected. Where necessary, the hospital notifies NAFDAC for regulatory action.
This process minimizes the risk of substandard and falsified medicines reaching patients in the hospital.
The newly commissioned Trauma Center is a purpose-building complex designed to manage patients with serious physical injuries, wounds, and other trauma-related emergencies. It is equipped to provide rapid assessment, resuscitation, surgical intervention, and post-trauma care, significantly improving survival and recovery rates for accident and emergency case.
ABU Teaching Hospital Zaria (ABUTH), has become a turned around in the areas of infrastructure Revamping and rehabilitation, and construction of new developments within the hospital all these have been possible because of the vibrant leader, who had been working tremendously to accomplish the strategic goals and objectives of the hospital, thanks to the Chief Medical Director Prof. Ahmed Hamidu Umdagas.
