The Governing Council of the Federal University of Education, Zaria (FUE Zaria), has approved the appointment of Shehu Iya Sa’idu, FIICA, FIPMD, as the substantive Registrar of the University.
A statement signed by Sani Lawal Maqarphy, Media aide to the VC said the Council also approved the appointment of Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Aliyu, FCCA, as the substantive Bursar.

The appointments were approved at the Council’s 3rd Quarter Meeting, held from 5 to 6 October 2026, under the chairmanship of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Ambassador Baba Ahmad Jidda, OFR.
Shehu Iya Sa’idu — Registrar
Shehu Iya Sa’idu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the same institution. He also holds a certificate in Data Processing and Computer Operation, while his Master of Philosophy (MPhil) programme is currently in progress.
The new Registrar joined the services of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, on 17 September 2007 and has risen through the ranks from Administrative Officer II to Senior Deputy Registrar.
Over the years, he has served in various administrative capacities, including Secretary of the Internal Security Committee; Administrative Secretary, Zaria Consultancy Ltd.; Pension Desk Officer; IPPIS Desk Officer; and Head of the Documentation, Disengagement and Pension Unit.
In 2023, Sa’idu was appointed Overseer of the Registry Department in the then Federal College of Education, Zaria. Following the institution’s upgrade to a university, he became Acting Registrar of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, in 2024, a position he held until his substantive appointment.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators (IICA) and the Institute of Policy Management Development (IPMD), among other professional affiliations.
Muhammad Kabir Aliyu — Bursar
Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Aliyu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; a Postgraduate Professional Course in Accountancy from the Nigerian College of Accountancy, Jos; and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Ahmadu Bello University.

He also holds qualifications in Cooperative Studies, Accounting and Finance, as well as Computer Appreciation and Packages.
Kabir Aliyu has built an extensive career in accounting and financial management, progressing through various positions from Clerical Officer, Accounts, to Senior Accountant, Principal Accountant, Chief Accountant, Assistant Deputy Bursar and Deputy Bursar.
He was appointed Acting Bursar of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, in 2024, and has since provided leadership in the University’s financial administration.
He has also served in several committees and administrative capacities within the institution, including as Chairman of the Fact-Finding Committee on the Bursary Department; Chairman of the Special Committee on the Harmonised Schedule of School Fees; and Chairman of the Committee on the Review of Staff Strength of Casual Staff of ZAFEC Microfinance Bank, Federal University of Education, Zaria.
The new Bursar is a professional member and Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN). He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Policy Management Development and a member of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.
Experience to Strengthen University Administration
Both appointees bring extensive institutional experience and have participated in numerous professional development programmes covering administration, financial management, digital transformation and institutional management.
Their confirmation as substantive heads of the Registry and Bursary Departments is expected to provide continuity and further strengthen the University’s administrative and financial management systems, while supporting the effective implementation of its institutional mandate.
On behalf of the Governing Council, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Ambassador Baba Ahmad Jidda, OFR, congratulated the two appointees on their appointments.
He expressed confidence in their ability to discharge their responsibilities effectively and urged them to continue to uphold professionalism, diligence, integrity and commitment in the service of the University.
