    CPM CHARGES PROMOTION BOARD CANDIDATES ON PROFESSIONALISM AND BEST PERFORMANCE

    The Chief of Personnel Management, Department of Personnel Management (Army), Major General Adewale Adekeye, has charged participating candidates of the Warrant Officers – Master Warrant Officers Promotion Board 2026 to put in their best and maintain a high level of professionalism throughout the exercise.

    A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Umar Adam Acting Deputy Director 6 Division Nigerian Army Public Relations said Major General Adekeye gave the charge on Thursday, 3 September 2026, while addressing the 1,115 candidates at the Auditorium of the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State, venue of the promotion exercise hosted by Headquarters 6 Division Nigerian Army.

    The CPM stressed the importance of the promotion exercise to the career development and professional progression of Senior Non-Commissioned Officers in the Nigerian Army. He urged the candidates to put in their best during the exercise, while cautioning them to perform within the level and limits their physical fitness can endure. He noted that their health and wellbeing remain paramount to the Service and equally important to their families. He further ssured the participants that members of the Promotion Board would conduct the exercise objectively and fairly, in accordance with established guidelines. The promotion exercise which was scheduled to take place from 2 – 22 September 2026, shall feature, documentation, screening of certificates, medical examination, physical fitness test, weapon handling, drill, computer literary test, written test and oral interview.

    Earlier in his address, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander Joint Task Force (South-South) Operation DELTA SAFE Major General Everest Okoro, welcomed the Chief of Personnel Management (Army) and members of the Promotion Board to the Division. He expressed his confidence and, stated that the collective experience, wisdom and professional judgement of the Board members would ensure a fair, transparent and credible assessment of all candidates. Therefore, he urged the candidates to approach the exercise with confidence and discipline, noting that the process provides an opportunity for them to demonstrate their competence, leadership qualities and readiness for greater responsibilities.

    The GOC appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for his exemplary leadership and for the confidence reposed in Headquarters 6 Division by approving the hosting of the 2026 Warrant Officers – Master Warrant Officers Promotion Board in the Division. He noted that the confidence placed in the Division was a reflection of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to professional development, merit-based career progression and the continuous improvement of its personnel. The GOC further reminded the candidates who would eventually emerge successful that the promotion represents more than the attainment of a higher rank, stressing that it comes with increased responsibility, leadership expectations and greater commitment to the Service.
