He explained that over the last three years, the 10th House of Representatives has considered 2,747 bills, passed 363, while 72 have already received Presidential assent—the highest legislative output by any Assembly since 1999.
According to him,beyond the numbers are real reforms that are expanding access to education, strengthening our economy, deepening governance, and improving the lives of Nigerians.
Dr Tajudeen Abbas maintained that the house welcome constructive criticism because it makes legislation better. But criticism is most valuable when it is informed by facts rather than misinformation.
He disclosed that the house of representatives support for the Renewed Hope Agenda has been deliberate and purposeful. From student financing and tax reforms to infrastructure, budgetary reforms, and constitutional amendments, the House has continued to provide the legal framework needed to translate vision into lasting national progress.
On security, the Speaker salute the courage and sacrifice of our gallant security personnel, particularly those involved in the successful rescue of the abducted pupils, students, and teachers in Oyo State.
He noted that their bravery reminds us that every appropriation and every legislative intervention in support of our security institutions ultimately serves one purpose: protecting the lives of Nigerians.
Dr Tajudeen Abbas also assure that the house will give expedited consideration to the Executive State Police Bill recently transmitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to further strengthen our national security architecture.
He said that the National Assembly belongs to the Nigerian people. Open Week is not a ceremony; it is a conversation. Our doors remain open, our ears attentive, and our commitment to transparency, inclusion, and reform unwavering.
