The Director-General of the National Research Institute for Chemical Technology (NARICT) Zaria, Dr. Kabiru Mu’azu, has advised dealers and distributors of agricultural pesticides and others to focus on using personal and public protective equipment.*
Dr. Kabiru Mu’azu gave the advice while speaking with newsmen in Zaria.
Dr. Kabiru Mu’azu said that the way people interact with chemicals in daily life is a growing concern due to the hazards chemicals pose to human health and the environment.
He said that in areas like agriculture and others, farmers should develop the habit of checking the instructions written on pesticide labels and follow them to protect their health.
Dr. Kabiru Mu’azu also lamented that Nigerians have a tendency to neglect locally produced chemicals that God has blessed us with, and instead prefer foreign ones despite the quality of the locally made products.
The DG emphasized the need to utilize every research that will bring about national development, environmental protection, and the growth of the country’s economy and population.
