    The Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria received a major boost in its emergency and referral services following the donation of one brand new fully equipped Toyota Land cruiser Ambulance and 18 seater Toyota Hiace and a cash donation of Twenty Million Naira by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.

    A statement signed by the information and public relations head of the hospital Haruna Ibrahim said the presentation ceremony took place at the Administrative Block, ABUTH Zaria.

    The representative of the Speaker formally handed over the keys and documents of the ambulance and 18 seater Toyota Hiace to the Chief Medical Director on behalf of Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.

    The donated ambulance is a brand new Toyota Land cruiser fully equipped ambulance with the following features:

    Oxygen cylinder, suction machine, defibrillator, stretcher, spinal board, first aid kits, Siren, public address system, GPS tracker

    According to the Speaker’s office, the donation is aimed at Strengthening emergency medical services and improving patient outcomes,

    enhancing emergency response and patient evacuation services,

    Supporting the hospital’s mandate of providing timely, healthcare delivery

    Reducing delay in referral of critical patients within and outside the hospital

    The cash donation of Twenty Million Naira is also intended to support hospital operations and sustainability of critical services.

    In his remarks the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Ahmed Hamidu Umdagas, described the donation as timely and life-saving.

    He noted that the ambulance will significantly reduce mortality from accidents, obstetric emergencies, and other critical cases. He pledged that the hospital will ensure proper maintenance and judicious use of the ambulance and the funds.

    Prof. Umdagas expressed appreciation to the Speaker for the gesture and called it a laudable intervention that will go a long way in saving lives and improving service delivery at ABUTH, he called for more of such support from stakeholders and development partners.

    The event was attended by top Management of the Hospital including Director of Administration Barr. Buhari Zailani, Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee Prof. Mohammed Ibrahim Zaria, Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee Clinical Services, Prof. Abdullahi Musa, other Heads of Departments and senior staff

    The Hospital Management thanked Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, for remembering ABUTH and for his commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
