The Deputy President of the Senate,Barau Jibrin, plans to sponsor many more students of Kano State origin to study various courses in foreign institutions of higher learning.

His Chief of Staff,Prof.Muhammad Ibn Abdullahi, stated this shortly after he received the first batch of 26 graduates who studied ICT courses sponsored by Senator Barau I.Jibrin,on arrival at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport,on Tuesday.

“As you can see, we are here to celebrate the arrival of students from India, sponsored by His Excellency, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin Maliya. He sponsored a number of students to study in India and other countries.

“This is the first batch of 26 students who have successfully completed their postgraduate programmes. They studied in various fields of interest, forensic science, artificial intelligence, and other related areas. They were solely sponsored by Senator Barau Jibrin Maliya.

“The programme will continue. There will be more intervention, more sponsorships.Very soon, he will sponsor many students to other foreign countries.

“This is besides the domestic scholarship, where thousands of students have been sponsored by Senator Barau Jibrin Maliya. And you can see, they are not from Kano North alone.

“They are all from various parts of the state. He represents Kano North Senatorial District. But everyone from Kano State benefited from this programme,”Ibn Abdullahi said.

According to him,the intervention is immensely impacting the socio-cultural lives of the people of the state, pointing out that,”once you educate people, you are addressing so many socio-cultural issues.”

“You are addressing issues of security, you are addressing issues of employment, you are addressing issues of social and economic development.

“And God knows where these children would go, function and intervene in their own lives and the lives of their families, the communities, and the larger society,” the Chief of Staff added.
