The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government, Engr. Muhammad Jamil Ahmad, has called on citizens to sustain the values of sacrifice, unity, patriotism, and peaceful coexistence beyond the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, describing them as critical pillars for strengthening governance and national development.

Speaking shortly after observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Malam Musa Eid Praying Ground in Zaria, the Chairman said the occasion provided another opportunity for reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to collective progress and responsible leadership.

A statement signed by the chief press secretary office of the chairman, Galadima Ishaq said the prayers were attended by the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Mu’azu Meyere, alongside the Emir of Zazzau Emirate, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, senior government officials, district heads, traditional title holders, and members of the Muslim Ummah.

Engr. Jamil noted that the Eid celebration remains a powerful reminder of the need for selflessness, tolerance, and shared responsibility in nation-building.

“Eid-el-Kabir teaches us the timeless values of sacrifice, compassion, obedience, and service to humanity. As leaders and citizens, we must continue to translate these virtues into practical actions that promote peaceful coexistence, inclusive governance, and sustainable development within our communities,” he stated

The Chairman further emphasized that the present administration in Zaria Local Government remains committed to strengthening grassroots governance through policies and initiatives that prioritize peace, youth engagement, community development, and strategic collaboration with traditional institutions.

“Our collective aspirations for a stronger Zaria, a more prosperous Kaduna State, and a united Nigeria can only be achieved through unity, mutual respect, and continued support for lawful leadership and community-driven progress,” he added.

Following the Eid prayers, Engr. Jamil proceeded to the Emir’s Palace, where he joined thousands of residents and visitors to witness the colourful and historic Hawan Sallah (Durbar Festival) led by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Zazzau.

He described the annual cultural display as a symbol of the enduring strength, dignity, and heritage of the people of Zazzau, noting that the Durbar continues to promote cultural identity, tourism, and social cohesion across the state and beyond.

“The Hawan Sallah remains one of the most treasured cultural institutions in Northern Nigeria. It reflects the resilience, unity, and rich historical heritage of our people while also serving as a platform for peace, harmony, and cultural diplomacy,” the Chairman remarked.

Engr. Jamil prayed for Allah’s continued blessings upon the people of Zaria Local Government, Kaduna State, and Nigeria at large, while wishing Muslims a peaceful and rewarding Eid celebration.

“May Almighty Allah accept our Ibadah, forgive our shortcomings, and continue to guide our leaders and communities towards peace, stability, and prosperity. Taqabbalallahu Minna Wa Minkum. Eid Mubarak,” he concluded.
