In a colourful ceremony aimed at boosting morale and celebrating excellence, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), Major General Folusho Oyinlola, has charged newly promoted officers to embrace inclusive leadership and ensure effective supervision of all assigned responsibilities.
A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Olumide Victor Olukoya,Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 3 Division Nigerian Army said he gave this charge during the investiture ceremony of 13 newly promoted officers, held on Wednesday, 15 April 2026, at the Rhino Officers’ Mess, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos. The event attracted a distinguished audience comprising serving and retired senior military officers, as well as families, friends and well-wishers.
In his remarks, Major General Oyinlola congratulated the officers on their well-deserved promotions, commending their exemplary performance and dedication to duty. He urged them to lead by example, remain steadfast in the discharge of their responsibilities, and uphold the high standards that earned them their elevation. Emphasising the demands of their new ranks, he encouraged a seamless transition into strategic leadership and sound executive decision-making, stressing the need for deliberate, thoughtful and responsible command.
The GOC further highlighted the indispensable role of family support in shaping an officer’s career. He noted that operational effectiveness is often reinforced by stability on the home front and expressed deep appreciation to spouses for their unwavering support, which has significantly contributed to the officers’ professional achievements.
Delivering a goodwill message, Brigadier General JN Temlong (rtd) congratulated the newly promoted officers, describing their advancement as a call to higher responsibility. He reminded them of their status as role models to their subordinates and urged them to demonstrate conduct worthy of emulation. He further encouraged them to uphold comradeship, serve with integrity, and remain committed to duty in order to justify the confidence reposed in them.
In a similar vein, the Commander, 3 Division Medical Services and Hospital, Brigadier General O Adole, felicitated with the officers, noting that their promotion was a product of merit and consistent hard work. He advised them to maintain a healthy balance between professional obligations and personal life, while also encouraging them to mentor their subordinates and take keen interest in their development.
Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, Lieutenant Colonel Yusuf Yelwa Aliyu expressed profound appreciation for the words of advice. He thanked the Chief of Army Staff for approving their promotion, and the GOC for his exemplary leadership, steadfast support and strategic guidance. He also acknowledged the invaluable role of their spouses and assured that the officers would justify their elevation and strive to exceed expectations in their new ranks.
The newly decorated officers include Lieutenant Colonels YY Aliyu, M Galadima, A Isiaku, KU Jijji, FE Nnebeife, MG Mohammed, KJ Oyeniyi, MB Aminu and MS Datti. Others are Lieutenants MU Ekanem, HB Lawan, FN Ominyi and IA Mani.
Highlights of the event included the investiture ceremony, goodwill messages, refreshments and group photographs to commemorate the occasion.
