The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, has confirmed Engr. Nura Garba as substantive Head of Procurement Unit of the university.

He also approved the extension of the tenure of Dr Muhammad Yunusa Ishiaku as acting Assistant Director, Extension and Linkages of the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI).

Until his confirmation, Engr. Garba had been heading the university procurement unit for six months on acting capacity.

A letter conveying Engr. Garba’s confirmation said the appointment is for a period of two years and it is renewable based on satisfactory performance.

The confirmation, according to the Vice-Chancellor, was in recognition of his administrative, leadership qualities and the proven capacity he demonstrated in the last six months.

Engr. Garba would be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for operational purposes, report to him on all procurement matters in the university, and seek approval in all dealings with external stakeholders.

Prof Ahmed advised him to be honest and faithful in all his official dealings while sustaining the current tempo of reforms being undertaken.

In the same vein, the Vice-Chancellor also approved the re-appointment of Dr Muhammad Yunusa Ishiaku as acting Assistant Director, Extension and Linkages, NAPRI, for another six months with effect from 11th May, 2026 to 10th November, 2026.

The re-appointment was sequel to a performance review within the framework of the ongoing modest achievements within the period of the state of emergency.

Dr Ishiaku was requested to re-focus his activities and consolidate on the achievement record aimed at realigning NAPRI towards impactful delivery of its core mandates
