Niger State governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has made a case for 13.5% derivation for the State from the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission ( RMAFC).

A statement signed by Ibrahim Bologi chief press secretary to the Governor said the farmer governor made the case when he received a delegation from the Commission on a courtesy visit to him at the Government House, Minna.

Farmer Umaru Bago who advocated an increase in revenue to the State due to its vast land and resources said, Niger State supplies 60% of Nigeria’s power supply but still remains under change.

He therefore charged the Commission to take the State into consideration in that regard.

Farmer Umaru Bago thanked the Commission for its continuous support for democracy adding that, revenue allocation is a very important tool for stabilizing the federation and reassured that his administration will continue to support the commission to succeed.

He acknowledged that periodic verification of data analysis is very vital and understands that the Commission needs it as an instrument to succeed in its mandate.

Leader of the delegation and Federal Commissioner, Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Dr. Henry Nduka Awuregu said the team was in the State as part of its nationwide data verification which he described as a critical national assignment where data used in revenue allocation among the States and local government areas are verified and updated.

He disclosed that the exercise is in furtherance of RMAFC’s constitutional mandate which empowers the Commission to continuously review the revenue allocation formula to reflect changing realities.

Dr. Henry who commended the farmer governor for support said his team collaborated with the State Ministries, departments, agencies and local government authorities and appreciated them for their cooperation which he said made the team’s task in the State successful.

He said, the revenue allocation system in Nigeria is built on a set of indices that seek to ensure fairness, equality, equity and justice in the sharing of national resources and reassured the farmer governor that the outcome of this exercise will have significant implications for the Federation as a whole and Niger State in particular.

The leader of the delegation and federal commissioner Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Dr. Henry Nduka commended developmental strides of the farmer governor especially as they affect extensive Urban renewal,Agricultural revolution and road network expansions across the twenty five local government areas of the State describing it as unprecedented achievements .
