The Federal Government has successfully launched the National Housing Fund window and the Diaspora Mortgage Loan at Hilton Kensington, London, United Kingdom on Friday, 7th August 2026.
A statement signed by Adamu Aminu Special Assistant on Media Office of the Honourable Minister of State Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development said the event was organized by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. It brought together stakeholders from government, the financial sector, and the Nigerian diaspora community.
The launch was performed by the Honourable Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata. In his remarks, the Minister said the Diaspora Mortgage Loan is designed to provide affordable housing finance to Nigerians living abroad and to enable them to own homes in Nigeria.
Also in attendance were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, and the Managing Director/CEO of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Shehu Osidi. They reaffirmed the commitment of government to expand access to decent and affordable housing.
The Diaspora Mortgage Loan will be delivered through the National Housing Fund window managed by FMBN. The initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda to reduce the housing deficit and mobilize diaspora resources for national development.
The event ended successfully with strong support from the diaspora community.
