The Federal government has been urge to ensure completion of the ongoing Yola-Mubi federal road in Adamawa state before the 2027 general elections.
Adamawa Northern Elders Forum of the All progressives Congress(APC) made the call while applauding the efforts of the contractor, AG Vision handling the construction work of the road saying that phase one of the road project has been completed and is durable.
Spokesman of the Forum, Mohammed Abubakar while addressing the media in Mubi on Monday pleaded with the govt. to speed up the awarding of the contract of phase two of the road network so it could be completed before forthcoming general elections.
“The Yola-mubi road is very important to the people of northern Adamawa state, because it links Nigeria with the republic of Cameroon and Mubi is the commercial centre of Adamawa state, so completing the road before the general elections will be an added advantage to our party”.
” We must commend the contractor AG vision and president Bola Tinubu, for taking proactive measures to ensure that the phase one of the road is completed and we appealed to our minister of works senator David Umahi to award the contract of phase two before the forthcoming general elections, this will silent the opposition, “he said.
Abubakar stressed that the completion of the road will not only boost the business activities in Mubi, but it will enhance the business relationship between Cameroon and Nigeria.
He pointed out that the road, if completed , will help the security agencies to combat insurgency, banditry and kidnapping in the northern zone.
“The northern Adamawa and central zone are the two zones under security threat, you can see the attacks in Madagali, Hong and Gombi local governments every week because of the proximity to sambisa forest, so the Yola-Mubi road is important for military and other security agencies to respond to any attack in the zone” he said.
Some commercial motorists described the completed section of the road as the best durable road constructed in the state.
A driver, Idris Adamu,who plights the road frequently said, “the re-constructed road is wider and thicker than when it was constructed before, we are happy with the contractor AG vision for doing a good job”.
Abubakar called on the National Security Adviser (NSA) Malam Nuhu Ribadu to use his good office to ensure that the project which is central to the re-election of president Tinubu is awarded before next year.
“Some people, because of their selfish interests, are trying to sabotage the project and use it against the federal government, but we are sure with Ribadu, they cannot achieve their target “.
” Some top APC members in Adamawa state are working in the night for other political parties, we know that they are not with president Tinubu and our governorship candidate Alhaji Tijani Galadima but we are going to shock them at the general elections come 2027″.
Our Correspondent reports that the road has been abandoned by previous administrations until the coming of late former president Muhammadu Buhari the contract was awarded to AG vision with phase one of 52 kilometers stretch completed a few months back remaining the second stretch begging for urgent attention.
