First lady of Nigeria, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu and Niger State governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago were among eminent Nigerians that graced the grand finale of the Renewed hope international racing derby in Bida.
A statement signed by the chief press secretary to the Governor, Bologi Ibrahim said the one week event held at the Sultan Abubakar Sa’ad race course, Bida was organised in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The horse racing event attracted horse riders from within and outside the State who competed in different race categories including President Tinubu’s Cup, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu’s Cup and Governor Umaru Bago’s Cup.
Other trophies competed for include, Emir of Zazzau’s Cup, Etsu Nupe’s Cup and Shehu Diko’s Cup.
First lady of Nigeria, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu who was thrilled with the horse riding event presented trophies, car keys and cheques to deserving winners, second, third and fourth place finishers.
The first lady was also presented with a horse gift from the Life long patron of the Horse riding federation of Nigeria and Chairman, Niger State Council of traditional rulers, Etsu Yahaya Abubakar who made the presentation on behalf of the Federation.
The event had several special guests in attendance including deputy governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, Minister of Information and National orientation, Muhammad Idris Malagi, Minister of State, agriculture, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, Senator representing Niger East, Sen. Muhammad Sani Musa and member representing Bida/Gbako/Katcha federal constituency, Saidu Musa Abdul.
Several traditional leaders including the Emir of Kagara, Ahmed Garba Gunna Attahiru II and others from within and outside the State were also in attendance.
Other notable guests in attendance are the National chairman, Horse riding federation of Nigeria, Tajudeen Aminu Dantata and his Vice, Prof. Zainab Gobir, Chairman, National Sports Commission, Shehu Diko among several others.
