The Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria, has organised a three-day training programme on Teaching Entrepreneurship Using Effectuation for its academic staff.
A statement signed by Sani Lawal Maqarphy, media aide to the VC, said the training, sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), was facilitated by GETrust in collaboration with the National Universities Commission (NUC). It was held from 22nd to 24th July, 2026, at the Prof. Suleiman Balarabe Chamber, FUE Zaria.
Declaring the training open on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services, Prof. Kabir Haruna Danja, described entrepreneurship education as a vital component of contemporary higher education.
He said universities must equip and support both staff and students with the knowledge, skills and mindset required to identify opportunities, create value and contribute meaningfully to national development.
Prof. Danja stated that the training was organised to strengthen the capacity of academic staff in teaching entrepreneurship using the effectuation approach, which emphasises innovation, creativity and practical problem-solving.
He urged participants to actively engage in the sessions and apply the knowledge gained to enhance teaching, research and community service.
In her goodwill message, the Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship Education and Coordinator of the programme, Prof. Amina Sani, appreciated the University Management for supporting the initiative and expressed confidence that the training would enhance participants’ capacity to deliver entrepreneurship education more effectively.
The resource persons, Associate Professor M. I. Aminu and Dr. Aliyu M. Dantsoho, led participants through sessions on pedagogic principles for teaching entrepreneurship to non-business students and the core principles of effectuation, including Bird-in-Hand, Affordable Loss, Lemonade, Patchwork (Crazy Quilt) and Pilot-in-the-Plane.
Participants also undertook practical Padlet board exercises, quizzes and case studies on Nils Bergqvist, U-Haul, Flipkart, Husk Power Systems and TerraCycle. Other sessions focused on artificial intelligence, creativity and the Value Creator Mindset.
The three-day training was attended by members of the academic staff drawn from various departments and faculties of the University.
