Five Resident doctors of the Maxillofacial Surgery department of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria have secured a $125,000 scholarship for MSc and Fellowship training in Oral and Maxillofacial Implantology.
A statement signed by head information and public relations unit of the hospital, Haruna Ibrahim said each of the resident doctor is to receive a $25,000 scholarship for the postgraduate programme, they are:
1. Dr. Musa Sani Yerima
2. Muhammad Abubakar Gumi
3. Dr. Atiku L. Atiku
4. Dr. Johnson A. O.
5. Dr. Emmanuel Bwala Paktama
The Scholarship was facilitated by Prof. Christopher Ogunsalu, President of the International Postgraduate Medical College (IPMC)
Speaking at the event the Chief Medical Director Prof. Ahmed Hamidu Umdagas commended the gesture and urged the beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity for academic and professional development.
The Vice Chancellor ABU Zaria Prof. Ahmed Adamu and the dean faculty of Dentistry Prof. Sunday Olusegun Ajika express ed appreciation to Prof. Ogunsalu for facilitating the scholarship
The official presentation of admission letters was made by the Vice-Chancellor, ABU, Prof. Adamu Ahmed. in a brief but colourful event held at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Shika-Zaria, on Friday, 26th June 2026.
The Global University of Medical Sciences (GUMS), is a subsidiary of the International Postgraduates Medical College and specialises in advanced dental training including Master’s program in oral surgery, maxillofacial surgery, Implantology and oral Medicine
