The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Chinedu Ralph Nnebeife has charged officers and soldiers of the Division to remain disciplined and maintain the standard of regimentation always.

A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma,Acting Deputy Director 2 Division Army Public Relations said he made the call during a farewell address to troops of the Division at Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan, Oyo State, today 31 July 2026.

Major General Nnebeife, further stated that his experience in 2 Division was worthwhile, adding that collectively they have recorded enormous operational successes, which climaxed with the rescue of 44 pupils and teachers who were abducted at Oriire in Oyo State on the 15 May 2026. He retorted that the successful rescue operations was a product of collective efforts. He cautioned the troops to desist from any act that would be inimical to the NA, urging them to shun all forms of illegality and abstain from substance abuse and other vices.

The outgoing GOC, used the opportunity to charge personnel to continue to add value to the system, adding that the NA has come of ages, having existed for over 163 years. He called on all to be loyal to the constituted authority and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, stressing that they have the capacity to do better.

He thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu for the opportunity to have commanded the Division. He equally thanked all the officers, soldiers and their families for their unwavering cooperation and support during his sojourn in 2 Division. He further urged them to extend the same level of cooperation and support to the incoming GOC, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, whom he described as a distinguished infantry General that will build on the legacies bequeathed in the Division.
