The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, has inaugurated the students of Exercise SHINING STAR Course 10/2026 as part of ongoing efforts to enhance troops’ operational effectiveness and combat readiness.
A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Olumide Victor Olukoya, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 3 Division Nigerian Army said the inauguration ceremony was held on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, at the 3 Division Auditorium, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.
In his inaugural address, delivered by the Commander 3 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Adiyu Aminu, the GOC stated that the course was designed to further develop the trainees into highly disciplined and regimented soldiers following their successful completion of training at the Nigerian Army Depot.
He expressed confidence that the participants would emerge from the programme as better-trained and more professional soldiers in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy which is “To Advance the Transformation of the Nigerian Army into a More Professional, Adaptable, Combat-Ready and Resilient Force Capable of Decisively Discharging its Constitutional Responsibilities Within a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment.”
Major General Dangana also conveyed his profound appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to training and capacity development, describing investment in personnel training as one of the most effective forms of welfare for troops and a critical pillar for enhancing operational efficiency.
Earlier, in his welcome remarks, the Division Training Officer, Brigadier General Nicodemus Awobi, appreciated the GOC and other distinguished guests for honouring the occasion despite their demanding schedules. He explained that Exercise SHINING STAR is a Nigerian Army training programme conducted across all Division Training Schools to harmonise post-depot training and equip young soldiers with the requisite skills, discipline and combat proficiency required for contemporary military operations.
The ceremony was attended by commanders, staff officers of the Division and other invited guests.
