The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force (South-South) Operation DELTA SAFE Major General Everest Okoro, has called for sustained collaboration and synergy among the Armed Forces and other security agencies towards addressing the prevailing security challenges in the Niger Delta Region.

A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Umar Adam Acting Deputy Director  6 Division Nigerian Army Public Relations said the GOC made the call on Wednesday 30 September 2026, when the Commander Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, Commodore Ibikunle Raji, paid a courtesy visit to Headquarters 6 Division Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

During his remarks, Major General Okoro noted that the visit was significant, particularly in view of the current security situation across the country, stressing that cooperation and collaboration remain essential to building a safe and secure nation. He emphasised the need for security agencies to continue to work collectively towards achieving their shared objective, noting that success in the security domain is a collective responsibility. According to him, “One man’s success is another man’s success,” underscoring the importance of synergy and collective efforts among formations and units operating within the Niger Delta Region.

The GOC reassured the Commander NNS Pathfinder of the Division’s continues support and cooperation to his command, as he discharge his responsibilities within its area of operations. He also called for increased efforts towards maintaining peace and security in the region, particularly as the nation approaches the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, the Commander NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Ibikunle Raji, congratulated Major General Everest Okoro on his appointment as the GOC 6 Division and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force (South-South) Operation DELTA SAFE while welcoming him to the Niger Delta Region. Commodore Ibikunle Raji further emphasized the need to sustain the existing relationship between the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy, noting that the security challenges in the Niger Delta Region require a collective and coordinated approach by all relevant security agencies. The highlight of the visit was the signing of visitors’ book, presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph.
