The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army, *Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola*, has commissioned newly refurbished operational vehicles in 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, Ogun State on *15 September 2026*.
This is contained in a statement signed by Major IdereghiI Samuel Akani,Assistant Director Army Public Relations 35 Artillery Brigade issued to newsmen.
In his remarks during the ceremony, the GOC commended the Commander 35 Artillery Brigade for his foresight and initiative. He stated that in a time when resources are lean, the decision to refurbish rather than replace demonstrates prudence, foresight and a strong maintenance culture, noting that such ingenuity is exactly what the Nigerian Army needs to sustain operational readiness.
General Babalola noted that 35 Artillery Brigade remains a critical formation under 81 Division, responsible for security operations in Ogun State and its environs. He added that mobility is central to the Brigade’s ability to respond swiftly to threats, support civil authorities and project force. According to him, the refurbished vehicles will significantly enhance the Brigade’s capacity for troop movement, logistics and general administration.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander 35 Artillery Brigade, *Brigadier General Friday Oguche Onu*, stated that mobility is the lifeblood of any combat and combat support formation. He said that with the support of Headquarters 81 Division and the Nigerian Army, the Brigade was able to embark on a comprehensive refurbishment of its operational and administrative vehicles aimed at restoring them to optimal working condition to enhance operational efficiency and troops’ welfare.
Highlights of the event were the cutting of the commissioning tape, inspection of the refurbished vehicles, and a group photograph.
