No fewer than 108 groups under the auspices of Gombe State Alliance for Good Governance have defected to the All Progressives Congress APC, while declaring their full support for the gubernatorial bid of Dr Jamil Gwamna.
A statement signed by Ibrahim Sani Shawai, media aide to Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna said Hon. Usman Fada, a former member of the Gombe State House of Assembly who led the Alliance declared the support on behalf of the group.
Fada said their resolve to form an alliance to support the APC and Gwamna followed the performance of the APC at the state level as well as the capacity of Dr Gwamna to govern the state.
“We will advocate and seek support from individuals with political will of actualising the dream of Gombe citizens, by supporting Dr Gwamna to become the next governor of Gombe State.”
Hon.Fada on behalf of members belonging to the various groups, pledged to carry out intensive campaigns towards ensuring victory for the APC from top to bottom.
The defection was witnessed by the Deputy State APC chairman, Alhaji Baba Abuja.
In his response, Alhaji Baba called for unity amongst the party members, stating that a lot can be achieved with unity for the good of the APC
Responding, Dr Gwamna commended their courage to align with his vision for a greater Gombe State where every citizen matters.
He expressed willingness to work with the group and any other groups and aspirants who share in the vision of a Greater Gombe State.
