The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, has demonstrated its political strength and grassroots dominance as thousands of party supporters thronged the Pantami Township Stadium for a grand rally ahead of the forthcoming Local Government and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) elections scheduled for next Saturday.
A statement signed by the DG Press Affairs Gombe state government house Ismailia Uba Mislli said the rally, which was attended by the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, members of the National Working Committee, federal and state lawmakers and party stalwarts, culminated in the official presentation of party flags to APC chairmanship candidates contesting the council elections across the 11 LGAs and 13 LCDAs.
Speaking at the event, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, described the gathering as a clear testimony of the APC’s popularity and acceptance among the people of Gombe State, expressing confidence that the party would record a landslide victory in the upcoming elections.
The Governor commended the leadership of the APC at the national level for providing purposeful direction and strengthening the party’s internal cohesion across the country.
He particularly praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and commitment to implementing policies aimed at repositioning the nation for sustainable growth and development.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya reaffirmed the APC’s status as the dominant political force in Gombe State, noting that the party’s achievements at both the state and federal levels have continued to earn it the confidence of the electorate.
He called on party supporters to remain united, peaceful and committed to ensuring the success of all APC candidates at the polls.
“Our party remains the strongest and most organized political platform in Gombe State. With the overwhelming support of our people and the visible impact of our administration, we have every reason to be confident of victory in the forthcoming local government elections and all future electoral contests”, the Governor stated.
In his remarks, the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwada, lauded Governor Inuwa Yahaya for providing exemplary leadership and consolidating the party’s dominance in Gombe State.
He said the massive turnout witnessed at the rally was a reflection of the Governor’s popularity and the confidence the people have in his administration and the APC.
The National Chairman expressed optimism that APC would emerge victorious in the local government elections, stressing that the political atmosphere in the state clearly indicated that the party remained firmly in control.
“From what I have seen today, there is no doubt that APC is deeply rooted in Gombe State. The enthusiasm, unity and support displayed here clearly show that the party will win the forthcoming local government elections”, the Chairman stated.
“Your Excellency, you have done incredibly well. You have demonstrated that the support you’re getting from President Tinubu, you’re utilising it to change the lives of your people. In Gombe today, I saw roads networks. You’re connecting the people. I saw your agricultural programme. I saw many projects that you have done for the people of Gombe State. That is how democracy should work. And Governor Inuwa Yahaya has done that. This is why you’ve invited us to see, and we have seen it”, he added.
He further declared that the APC would not only secure victory in the council polls but would also win future presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and other elective positions in the state.
The National Chairman commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his loyalty to the party and his commitment to grassroots development, describing him as one of the APC’s most successful governors.
Also speaking, the National Secretary of the APC, Sen. Ajibola Basiru, commended the people of Gombe State for their steadfast support for the ruling party and urged members to sustain the momentum ahead of the elections.
He noted that the APC leadership at the national level was proud of the level of unity and organization within the party structure in Gombe State, assuring members of continued support from the national secretariat while passing a vote of confidence on Governor Inuwa Yahaya on behalf of the National Working Committee (NWC).
Speaking on behalf of federal lawmakers from the state, the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, praised Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s leadership style and developmental strides, noting that the Governor’s achievements have further strengthened the APC’s acceptance across the state.
He assured the Governor and the party leadership of that they would continue to work round the clock to ensure the party wins in all future elections in Gombe.
The Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewo, who spoke on behalf of the members of the State Assembly, lauded the APC’s leadership style at both federal and state levels, assuring that with what the APC administration has achieved so far, victory in forthcoming council and general elections is a sure thing.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the APC, Mr. Mohammed Dantata Ndus, welcomed party leaders and supporters to the rally, describing the event as another historic milestone in the political journey of the APC in Gombe State.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his commitment to the growth of the party and the development of the state, noting that APC remains united and well-positioned to secure victory in the forthcoming elections.
As a mark of appreciation and recognition of his leadership, the State Chairman presented an award to the National Chairman on behalf of the APC family in Gombe State.
Major highlights of the event were the official unveiling of the party’s governorship candidate, Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, senatorial candidates and House of Representatives candidates by the National Chairman ahead of the general elections, while APC flags were presented to all chairmanship candidates contesting the Saturday’s LGAs and LCDAs elections.
