The Yobe State Government has said the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni has recorded remarkable achievements in healthcare delivery, road infrastructure, security, education and economic development over the last seven years, with the construction of 148 healthcare centres and more than 500 kilometres of roads across the state.

The Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mohammed Goje, FRSPH, disclosed this on Friday during a press conference held at the SSG office in Damaturu to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the Buni administration.

Dr. Goje described the achievements as evidence of the administration’s deliberate effort to improve the quality of life of citizens through strategic investments in critical sectors and people-oriented policies.

According to him, Governor Buni’s administration has sustained a governance philosophy rooted in peacebuilding, institutional strengthening, human capital development, infrastructure expansion, and economic recovery since assuming office in 2019.

He stated that the administration completed has so far 143 out of 178 focal Primary Healthcare Centres across political wards in the state, upgraded five General Hospitals to Specialist Hospitals and established modern Mother and Child Referral Centres to strengthen healthcare delivery.

The Ag. SSG further revealed that the government constructed and rehabilitated over 500 kilometres of roads across Yobe State, including major township and inter-community roads aimed at improving transportation, trade, agricultural access and rural connectivity.

He listed some of the landmark projects to include the ongoing Damaturu Flyover and Underpass Bridge, Damaturu–Kalallawa Road, Damaturu–Gambir Road Waziri Ibrahim Bypass and several strategic roads across the three senatorial zones.

Dr. Goje also highlighted achievements in security, education, agriculture, housing, water supply, and rural electrification, noting that the administration has continued to consolidate peace and accelerate development across the state.

He added that over 48,000 students are currently benefiting from government scholarship programmes, while thousands of youths and women have received empowerment support through various government interventions.

While responding to some questions, the acting SSG assured that the administration remains committed to sustaining the gains achieved over the last seven years and building a more prosperous and resilient Yobe State.
