Yobe state Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, today gave out the hands of Fatima Sulieman, daughter of Hon. Suleiman Damagum, in marriage to Ibrahim Shuaibu, in Abuja.
A statement signed by the DG Press and Media affairs to the Governor, Mal Mamman Mohammed said the marriage was conducted after the payment of N500,000 dowry by the groom to the bride as stipulated by Islamic injunction.
The ceremony brought together prominent citizens of the state regardless of political and ethnic or social status.
Gov. Buni appreciated the people for identifying with their brother saying, it is a show of love and unity among the citizens of the state.
“There is always strength in unity, and it gives us a sense of brotherhood and belonging” the governor added.
Those in attendance include the state Deputy Governor, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, former PDP Chairman Amb. Umaru Iliya Damagum, NEDC Executive Director, Dr. Garba Iliya and former NOA Director General, Dr. Garba Abali.
Others include Baba Dala (SAN), Engr. MA Abubakar, Hon. Hassan Kafayos, APC chieftains, other prominent politicians, and government functionaries.
Prayers were offered for the new couple, as well as, for peace and security in the state and Nigeria in general.
