The Yobe State Government under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni has recorded remarkable achievements in manpower recruitment, training, and capacity building over the past seven years, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to building a competent and efficient public service.

According to official records, the administration recruited 11,909 new civil servants across critical sectors of the state’s economy to strengthen service delivery and address manpower shortages in key government institutions.
According to the statement,a breakdown of the recruitment exercise shows that 4,658 personnel (39%) were employed in the health sector to improve healthcare services across the state, while 2,916 personnel (24%) were recruited into the education sector to enhance teaching and learning in schools. Additionally, 4,335 personnel (37%) were employed across other sectors of the public service.
The administration also placed significant emphasis on staff development and professional capacity enhancement. Over the seven-year period, 7,040 public officers benefited from various training and capacity-building programmes designed to improve productivity, efficiency, and professionalism in the civil service.
Of the officers trained, 3,000 were newly employed staff, while 3,102 officers participated in other specialized professional development programmes. Senior public officers also benefited from targeted training, including 220 Chief Executives, 160 Human Resource Officers, 160 officers on Code of Conduct and Ethics, 120 Procurement Officers, 110 Directors, 98 Permanent Secretaries, and 70 Protocol Officers.
The administration noted that more than 59 percent of the trainees were newly recruited staff and other public officers, reflecting the government’s deliberate policy of equipping its workforce with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver quality services to the people.
Observers have described the achievements as one of the most extensive public service revitalization programmes in the state’s history, noting that the recruitment and training initiatives have significantly strengthened manpower across strategic sectors, particularly health and education.
Governor Buni’s administration has consistently maintained that human capital development remains central to sustainable development, with investments in workforce expansion and capacity building aimed at improving governance, enhancing service delivery, and accelerating socio-economic growth in Yobe State.
The achievements further underscore the administration’s vision of building a modern, competent, ethical, and service-driven public service capable of meeting the aspirations of the people of Yobe State.
