Governor, Nasir Idris of Kebbi state, has on Saturday flagged off the construction of the 2.9-kilometre Ahmadu Bello Road in Gwandu town of Gwandu Local Government Area of the state, describing the project as the fulfilment of a key campaign promise to the people of the area.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Idris said the commencement of the road project marks another milestone in his administration’s commitment to delivering meaningful and people-oriented infrastructure across the State.

He described the occasion as historic, noting that the road, which had been in dire need of reconstruction for many years, will now receive the necessary government attention.

“This is a historic day that will remain indelible in the history of Gwandu. The construction of this road is a promise fulfilled to the good people of Gwandu, and it is one of the legacy projects of our administration,” the Governor stated.

Governor Idris warned the contractors handling the project to strictly adhere to specifications and ensure the delivery of quality work within the stipulated time frame.

He also directed the Ministry of Works to intensify supervision and closely monitor the execution of the project to guarantee full compliance with standards.

The Governor reiterated that the road must be properly executed, assuring the people that adequate funds have already been set aside for the successful completion of the project.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner for Works, Engr. He described Gwandu as a historic town in Kebbi State and commended its people for their unwavering support and loyalty to the present administration.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Gwandu Local Government, Hon. Atiku Ahmad (Culture) ,conveyed a message of appreciation and solidarity from Gwandu elders, elites and academics, including Professor Bello Bada, assuring the Governor of their continued support.

He said that the people of Gwandu are highly grateful for the numerous developmental projects executed by Governor Idris in the area, noting that the Governor had already fulfilled over 80 percent of his campaign promises to the people of Gwandu.

According to him, the Governor has so far executed more than 63 projects in Gwandu Local Government Area, a feat he described as unprecedented.
