Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed profound grief over the passing of the Deputy Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Hajiya Fatima Umar Mai Riga, who recently passed away after a brief illness.
In a condolence message issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in Kano on Tuesday, Governor Yusuf extended his heartfelt sympathies to the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, the government and people of Yobe State, the leadership and members of the APC, and the family of the late Hajiya Fatima Umar Mai Riga over the painful and loss.
Governor Yusuf described the deceased as a committed party stalwart whose dedication, humility, and unrelentless loyalty to the APC contributed immensely to strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and advancing women’s participation in politics.
He noted that the late Hajiya Fatima Umar Mai Riga distinguished herself through years of selfless service, exemplary leadership, and tireless commitment to promoting unity and political inclusion, earning the admiration and respect of colleagues, associates, and party faithful across Yobe State and beyond.
The Governor said her demise has deprived the APC of a dependable mobilizer, a courageous advocate for women, and a mentor whose invaluable contributions to the growth of the party and the empowerment of women will remain indelible.
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive her shortcomings, envelop her with His infinite mercy, and grant her gentle soul eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
He also prayed that Allah grants Governor Mai Mala Buni, the bereaved family, the APC family, the government and people of Yobe State, and all those mourning her passing the strength, patience, and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The Governor urged the people of Yobe State, the deceased’s family, and her political associates to take solace in her exemplary life of service, integrity, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of democracy and public service, noting that her legacy will continue to inspire generations of women in leadership and partisan politics.
