His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, today visited the Northeast Theatre Training School in Buni Yadi following the recent insurgent attacks.
A statement signed by Hussaini Maisuleh Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Yobe State said the visit also served as a gesture of sympathy to the families of the fallen soldiers and those who sustained injuries during the attack.
Governor Buni, who was represented by his Deputy, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune), praised the dedication, resilience, and sacrifices of the Nigerian Army in the fight against insurgency.
He reaffirmed that the safety and security of the people of Yobe State remain the government’s top priority and pledged continued support for military operations.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers, particularly those who lost their lives in the attack on Buni Yadi, and urged the troops to remain steadfast and resilient in the discharge of their duties.
“We will continue to provide the necessary resources and support to ensure your success,” Governor Buni assured the troops.
The Governor also called on residents of Buni Yadi to remain vigilant and support the military and other security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities. He emphasized that security is a collective responsibility.
During the visit, the Deputy Governor donated cash support to the families of the deceased soldiers as well as personnel who sustained injuries.
Responding, the Commandant of the Northeast Theatre Training School, Brigadier General AC Aunaogu, briefed the Deputy Governor on the unfortunate incident, describing it as a major challenge.
He urged the state government to continue taking proactive measures whenever necessary.
The Commandant commended the Yobe State Government for its commitment and continuous support to troops in the fight against insurgency.
The Governor was accompanied by the Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa Shehu; Hon. Alh Aji Yerima Bularafa; the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd); heads of security agencies; and the Special Advisers on Livestock and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Mirwa and Alhaji Yahaya Inuwa Barde.
Other members of the entourage included the Permanent Secretary, Security and Cabinet Affairs, as well as other top government functionaries.
