Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Tuesday received leaders and members of the Dawo Dawo Gaskiya Farmers Association on a courtesy visit at the Red Chamber, Muhammadu Buhari House, Katsina.

The association, led by its Chairman, Alhaji Nasiru Aminu Solo, visited the Governor to brief him on its activities, particularly in women’s skills acquisition, poultry farming and other initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Radda commended the association for supporting women and encouraging productive activities that can improve household income and strengthen food security.

The Governor said his administration would continue to support initiatives that empower citizens with practical skills and create opportunities for them to become economically self-reliant.

“Empowering our women and supporting agricultural activities are important steps towards improving livelihoods, strengthening families and building a more productive society,” he said.

Governor Radda added that community-based organisations and farmers’ associations have an important role to play in complementing government’s efforts in agriculture, skills development and economic empowerment.

He urged the association to remain focused on programmes that have direct impact on its members, particularly women and young people, while ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of its activities.

The Governor also encouraged the association to expand its poultry and agricultural activities, noting that supporting local production would contribute to food security and reduce dependence on external sources.

Earlier, Alhaji Nasiru Aminu Solo thanked Governor Radda for receiving the association and explained that the organisation focuses mainly on women’s skills acquisition, poultry farming and other livelihood-support programmes.

He said the association has continued to support women with practical skills to enable them to establish small businesses and contribute to the economic wellbeing of their families.

Nasiru also disclosed that the Chief of Staff to the Governor serves as the patron of the association and has supported its activities since the administration of former Governor Aminu Bello Masari.

He further highlighted the association’s efforts in producing Tombrown, a nutritious food product intended to support the feeding and nutritional needs of children.

The Chairman said the association remained committed to expanding its programmes and contributing to the development of its members and the wider community through agriculture, skills acquisition and women empowerment.

Those in attendance were the Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Principal Private Secretary, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; members of the State Executive Council and other top government officials.
