Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced plans to introduce a car loan scheme for magistrates and expand support for the judiciary to enhance justice delivery in the state.

A statement signed by Ibrahim kaula Mohammad, chief press secretary to the Governor, said Governor Radda disclosed this on Thursday in Katsina at the launch of the maiden edition of the Hospitality Bar Journal, a publication by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Katsina Branch and the State Ministry of Justice.

He said his administration has made provisions in the proposed 2027 budget to tackle court congestion, improve working conditions, and boost manpower in the judiciary.

According to him, the government has increased the number of judges in the last two years and will consider more appointments to meet growing demands.

“We are considering a car loan scheme for our magistrates to give them a dignified life and address their transportation challenges. We will continue to increase their number, improve their welfare and working environment,” the Governor said.

He added that the government will also support accommodation and sponsorship for judicial officers to attend international seminars and professional development programmes.

Governor Radda commended the judiciary for its cordial working relationship with the executive and lauded the NBA and Ministry of Justice for the journal, which he described as a platform for legal scholarship and professional exchange.

As a demonstration of support, he announced the purchase of 50 copies of the journal for N10 million.

Earlier, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Fadila Mohammed Dikko, said the journal will promote legal research, document jurisprudence, and deepen collaboration between the Bar and the Ministry.

She further commended Governor Radda for his commitment to the justice sector, particularly in the areas of improving the welfare and working conditions of judicial officers and other justice-sector personnel.

In his own remarks, the Chairman of the NBA Katsina Branch, Barr. Shafiu Umar, said the publication will strengthen legal research and contribute to the growth of jurisprudence in the state.

The event was attended by the Chief Judge of the State, the Grand Khadi, top government officials, ALGON Chairman, judicial officers, and members of the legal community.
