In Katsina State , Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has on Tuesday urged officials of the Community Development Programme to uphold fairness, transparency and accountability in the delivery of grassroots projects.

A statement signed by Ibrahim kaula Mohammad, chief press secretary to the Governor, said the Governor gave the charge while receiving CDP and Community Level Committee officials, led by State Coordinator Dr. Kamaludeen Kabir, on a thank-you visit at Government House, Katsina.

Governor Radda said sustainable development starts when communities are involved in identifying their needs and driving solutions.

“Development is more meaningful and sustainable when communities are actively involved in identifying their priorities and implementing solutions to their challenges,” he said.

He added that his administration is committed to grassroots development because projects last longer when citizens take ownership.

The Governor said the CDP was designed to ensure government interventions reflect what the people actually need.

He charged CDP and CLC members to work with integrity and to partner with traditional rulers, councillors, women, youths, persons with disabilities and other stakeholders in addressing community priorities.

Governor Radda also tasked them to support minor repairs in public institutions and to sensitise residents on protecting government assets.

The CDP team also presented an Award of Excellence to Governor Radda in recognition of his commitment to grassroots development and his support for community-driven projects across Katsina State

Earlier, Dr. Kamaludeen Kabir thanked the Governor for supporting community-driven development.

He said the programme now has structures in all 361 wards of Katsina State, giving communities a platform to identify and prioritise their needs.

According to him, the delegation comprised Community Development Officers, Community Line Officers and Community Support Officers who serve as the link between government and communities.

Dr. Kamaludeen assured the Governor that CDP structures will continue to operate with integrity and dedication to strengthen participation and deliver results.

The CDP team commended the Radda administration for placing citizens at the centre of development planning.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Principal Private Secretary, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; members of the State Executive Council and other top government officials.
