Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commissioned 10 kilometres of newly completed roads in Sumaila and Wudil Local Government Areas, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and promoting balanced development across urban and rural communities in the state.

The projects, measuring five kilometres each in Sumaila and Wudil, are part of the Kano State Government’s deliberate policy to improve road infrastructure, enhance connectivity and raise the standard of living of residents in both urban centres and rural communities.

The roads are also equipped with streetlights, providing improved visibility and enhanced security at night, while facilitating easier movement of people, agricultural produce and goods within the benefiting communities and beyond.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad on Saturday.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremonies, Governor Yusuf said the projects were initiated to address critical infrastructure needs at the grassroots and promote socio-economic development across the state.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said the provision of streetlights along the roads would enhance security and create a safer environment for residents, traders and other road users, particularly during the night.

According to the Governor, the improved roads would also enable residents to extend their commercial activities beyond daylight hours, creating greater opportunities for traders, small businesses and other economic activities in the benefiting communities.

He noted that the improved road connectivity would ease the movement of people, agricultural produce and other goods, reduce transportation difficulties and strengthen economic linkages between rural communities and major commercial centres.

Governor Yusuf called on residents of the benefiting communities to protect and maintain the roads and streetlights, stressing that government infrastructure would deliver maximum benefits when properly safeguarded and utilised by the people

Residents and community leaders in Sumaila and Wudil expressed appreciation to the Governor for the projects, describing the roads and streetlights as important interventions that would improve transportation, strengthen security and stimulate economic activities in their communities.
